Abstract: In order to satisfy the needs for maize precision planting， especially for precision planting with a metering device which is simple in structure and convenient in use, a seed　metering device of steptypeinnercell was developed. The experiment results showed that when the shapes and sizes of the device were properly taken, the seed metering device will satisfy the needs for precision planting different varieties of maize seeds, without seed separation by size.
