Abstract: A new kind of tar oil base fuel developed for agricultural diesel engines was introduced in this paper. The experiments were made on a small swirl chamber diesel engine. Orthogonal planning method was used for the optimal application of tar oil base fuel. The working performances of the engine were detected in fullload speed characteristics test, starting test, emission and 50 hours endurance test. The results showed that it can replace diesel fuel for agricultural engines.
