Abstract:
Putting ice made of the distilled water which temperature was -18℃ in the nonuniform high electric field composed of a single point-to-plate, the experiment of ice melting was completed under the condition of the room temperature. The results of the experiments indicated that the rate of the ice melting by supplying the high-voltage electric field was higher than that of the control and the time spent in changing the ice into the water was shorter than that of the control. In the melting process, the shape of the unmelted ice showed obvious difference, the top of the ice in the high-voltage electric field was concave and this ice was electricized with negative charges. The reasons was briefly analyzed, however, the principal mechanism needs to be studied further in the future.
