    Morphology Structures and Properties of Animal Hairs

    • 摘要: 对人发及其他14种动物毛发的扫描电镜(SEM)照片进行分析,根据它们形态结构特征将其分为指状结构、芽状结构、鳞状结构和波状结构4类,并就每种毛发结构的保温性、疏水性及其柔性进行了比较分析。分析结果表明,具有指状细观结构形态的毛发在保温性、疏水性及柔韧性方面具有明显优势,这一信息对研究开发新型功能材料具有借鉴作用

       

      Abstract: Geometrical morphology and chemical constitution of hairs of man and 14 animals, i.e., marten, fox, goat, mouse, rabbit, cat, dog, roe deer, ox, donkey, badger, bear, pig and horse, were examined by scanning microanalyzer, energy analyzer and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry. These hairs were divided into 4 classes which were called finger shape, sprout-shape, wave-shape and scale-shape, respectively, in the light of hair surface morphology characteristics. Animal hair surfaces display geometrical unsmoothed and rough structures with various patterns and sizes. The heat preservation, hydrophobic behaviour and flexibility of the samples were compared with each other. The finger-shape structure morphology of hairs has more obvious superiority than other 3 classes in heat preservation, hydrophobic behaviour and flexibility. The information plays an important role in studying and developing new-type bionics materials.
