Field Experimental Study on the Residue of Heavy Metal in Wheat Crop

Abstract: The residual quantity of heavy metal such as Lead, Arsenic and Cadmium, varies greatly with different parts of the crop, which is highest in root, middle in stalk and leaves, and lowest in spike. The residue of heavy metal in wheat crop is not affected by sewage irrigation or fresh water irrigation. So it is considered that root which acts as a sort of barrier retards the upwards transport of heavy metal such as Lead, Arsenic and Cadmium, and protects the above ground parts of the crop from toxication. Heavy metal concentration in the spike of wheat crop meets the National Food Sanitation Standard.
