Abstract:
The aim of this experiment is to utilize three plant residues harvested in floating culture system to make as tomato seedling substrate through adding different volumes of sand, and choose suitable substrates as tomato seedling substrate. The conclusion showed the formulas of Canna indica residues and different volumes of sand all held up tomato seedlings growth, and then all died. But the formulas of Cyperus alternifolius and Vetiveria zizanioides plant residues with different volumes of sand were feasible for tomato seedling. Thereinto, the formulas of Vetiveria zizanioides residues are better than the formulas of Cyperus alternifolius residue, which appears symptom of deficient nitrogen during tomato seedling growth. For Cyperus alternifolius residue as substrate, more nitrogen can be added directly or through composting. So the experiment concluded that Cyperus alternifolius and Vetiveria zizanioides plant residues are feasible as tomato seedling substrate, and Canna indica plant residue needs further study.
