Abstract:
Electrolyzed water is generated through electrolysis of dilute salt solution or hydrochloric acid in an electric field. It is characterized in two types, acidic electrolyzed water and alkaline electrolyzed water, by the electrolysis extent. Acidic electrolyzed water was reported to exhibit strong antibacterial activity against many pathogens with a high effectiveness, safety, and no chemical residues. Moreover, alkaline electrolyzed water can be used as drinking water with high reductibility and active functions. The principle of producing electrolyzed water, its physicochemical properties, and disinfection effectiveness of acidic electrolyzed water were discussed in the paper. The application and prospect of electrolyzed water in improoing the environment of animal buildings and realizing health farming were also reviewed.
