Abstract
Oasis is the main gathering area of human survival and development in arid region. The enclosed, isolated, fragile, and water-dependent of their natural space leads to an extremely intense degree of conflict due to the competition among multiple functions, which seriously hinders the sustainable use of land resources and the coordinated development of human-land relationship in oasis. Accurately identifying the conflict situation and exploring the mechanism of conflict generation are of great significance for optimizing the territorial space pattern of oasis. This study constructs a conflict diagnosis and identification method based on functional competitiveness, it is used to identify the territorial spatial conflict in Ganzhou District, located in the middle reaches of the Heihe River, a typical oasis. Moreover, on the basis of exploring the interaction mechanism of conflict generation, strategies for conflict regulation are proposed. The results showed that: 1)The competitiveness of agricultural function is characterized by high level in the interior of the oasis and low level in the periphery, with high competitiveness distributed in a patchy form in the plain area of the oasis and the alluvial-proluvial fan zone at the foot of the mountains; The high competitiveness of urban function is mainly distributed in the central urban area, industrial parks, and key towns such as Xindun and Liangjiadun; The competitiveness of ecological function is characterized by high level in the southeast of the oasis and low level in the north, with high competitiveness distributed in clustered and fragmented - patchy forms in areas such as nature reserves, wetland park, and state-owned forest farm. 2)The strong conflict is mainly distributed in the urban space and agricultural space at the urban fringe, as well as the agricultural space and ecological space at the edge of the oasis. The moderate conflict is mainly characterized by scattered distribution of ecological space and agricultural space in the oasis plain. The weak conflict is mainly distributed in the Gobi desert area on the periphery of the oasis. Conflicts rarely occur in farmland protection areas, urban development areas, and ecological protection areas. 3)The generation of territorial spatial conflict in oasis is jointly influenced by the endogenous driving force of natural resource factors, the exogenous driving force of socio-economic factors, and the regulatory force of policy-planning factors. In the future, classified regulation should be implemented from the aspects of controlling the scale of urban construction and agricultural development, balancing the supply and demand relationship of multiple functions, intensifying ecological protection and restoration, and promoting intensive and efficient utilization. This study provide a reference for mitigating and preventing territorial spatial conflict in oasis of arid region.
