A Consulting System with Trait Prediction for Rice Pedigree Breeding

Pedigree breeding is a complex combinatorial process. Because the hereditary principles of genes are still very incomplete, the breeding process is mainly following the experience of the experts. Consequently, it will take many years to obtain a good rice variety. In order to raise the efficiency and effectiveness of breeding , it is desirable to develop a computerized consulting system which can be used to collect data and to analyze breeding process. In this paper, three trait prediction methods are introduced with a briefing of the system.
