A New Design for Animal and Poultry Raising Houses in High Temperature and High Humidity Region

The paper introduces a new design with ventilated roof ridge, single layer galvanized iron sheet roof and galvanized iron sheet lateral walls for animal and poultry houses in Shen-zhen district. The galvanized iron sheet lateral wall is composed of three pieces, they are arranged as ventilator louvers and can be opened or closed artificially to adjust the rate of ventilation for a chicken house.As the Shen-zhen District is located in the southern part of China close to the tropics, the climatic condition is quite hot and humid all the year round. To lower the room temperature and humidity become the most important things in designing the animal and poultry houses in this district. Surely, designers may select the air conditioner with isolated roof and walls, but it will increase the construction cost. By natural ventilation is the cheapest way to make a suitable environment with lower room temperature and humidity. After calculation, author and his colleagues found that it is possible to reach the required condition by above stated ventilated measures. In 1984, a new designed chicken house was completed and chickens were raised in the house in the same year. From 1984 to 1989, six years running, this new design is very satisfied in lowering the room temperature and relative humidity and made a suitable environment for raising chickens. That means such design can be used in high temperature and high humidity region for raising animals and poultries. Now, this new design has been rapidly extended in this region in order to save a great amount of investment in building the animal or poultry houses.
