Storage Experiment and Study on Foamed-Acid Delinted Cotton Seeds

Certain amount of residual acid will be left on the surface of foamed-acid delinted cotton seeds. The amount of the residual acid and the length of the storage period will affect the vitality of the seeds (germinating and sprouting). Study results showed that when amount of residual acid was lower than 0.120%,the effect of the length of storage period was nil. When the amount of residual acid were 0.204% and 0.300%, safw storage periods were 6 and 5 months respectively. On the other hand, the effect if the amount of residual acid was negligible within the safe storage period. So, if the storage period is not long, in the examination of delinted seeds it was suggested to conduct germination test only.
