Soil Adhesion and Abrasive Wear of PTFE-Matrix Composites

    • Behaviour of soil adhesion and wettability of water to PTFE-and PTFE - PPS -Al2O3 particle composites and their abrasive wear are studied. Dispersion of Al2O3 particles with proper content and size in PTFE and PTFE-50%(wt) PPS can increase the advancing contact angle of water and maintains excellent property of anti-adhesion of soil to the surfaces. The surface of the composites is similar to the cuticle of some soil animals in bydrophobicity and unsmoothed nature. Composites dispersed with Al2O3 particles in suitable content possess excellent abrasive resistance and PPS(50%wt) can further improve abrasive resistance of the composites.
