The Degradation and Harness of Soil Fertility in the Granite Eroding Area of South Fujian

    • The soil erosion area of South Fujian is over 5 000km2, being slightly more than 20% of the total land, the population density is about 450 persons / km2. Except natural factors, heavy population density accounts to the main reason of soil erosion. Owing to humen activities, vegetation has been destroyed, soil erosion has occured. Therefore, soil layer becomes thin, soil texture becomes sandy and soil fertility becomes poor. The experiences have proved that by taking developing control measures, not only soil erosion is controlled but also cultivated area could be expanded and soil fertility is restored and improved. As a result, the continuous utilization conditions of land is created. Harnessing ways are that 1, unified planning suited measures to local, conditions, rational distribution; 2, setting commercialized base of fruit and woods raising hilly land utilization rates; 3, combining engineering practices with biological measures; 4, strengthening soil regulation, increasing land productivity.
