Experiment and Analysis of Camel Locomotion Characteristics on Slope

By using high - speed camera and image analyzer, camel locomotion characteristics on slope were tested and analysed. The gait and footprint distribution of a camel walking on sand, the regular changing pattern of motion parameters with the changing of walking speed and the slope angle were studied. It was also analysed the role of the movement of camel' s leg, neck and body in increasing camel' s slope-crossing ability. The research results will be helpful in practice to the development of legged vehicle, especially to increasing of the slope - crossing ability of legged vehicle.
