    Studies on the Physical and Drying Properties of Detoxicated Rapeseed Meal(DRM)

    • The heat and drying properties of Detoxicated Rapeseed Mill (DRM) and its fluidity as well were studied in the paper. The experiment of DRM fluidity shows that, at 30~60 C , DRM has the same fluidity as powder at the moisture content of less than 35 % , and as pseudo-plastic fluid when the moisture content is from -10% to 50%. the order of facters according to the importance of affecting the fluidity is shearing speed(r) ,then moisture content(m) ,and then temperature(t). Dr. Harper' s equation is suitable for DRM.Specific heat and thermal conductivity of DRM were determined by the mixed method and the static method respectively under different moisture contents. Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) was also determined at 20℃,35℃,50℃. The results indicate that modified -Hendreson' s model is suitable for both desorption EMC and adsorption EMC.Othmer' s method was used. Heat needed for water vaporization was calculated at different moisture contents. In addition,the drying properties of DRM on the fluid-bed and in the drying process with two stage hot air were tested. It shows that DRM is at a constant velocity of drying throughout the drying process. The stage of matter on the fluid-bed can be considered as the preparation of drying.
