    Preliminary Experiment of Leaf Cutting Device for Sweet Sorghum in Field

    • The designed sweet sorghum leaf cutting device works together with the harvester cutting leaves and harvesting stems at the same time. The cutting device is positioned in the front of the tractor. The sweet sorghum leaves are cut from the stems by means of rubber elastic fingers rotating at a high speed. The fingers are driven by a hydraulic motor which is a part of the hydraulic lift system of the tractor The results showed that the studied plan, to remove the leaves before cutting stems by elastic cutting fingers, was feasible. The cutting rate was high. The structure of the leaf cutting device was simplified by means of hydrulic power transmission. It solved the most difficult problem in designing mechanical transmission systems. So, the technology was adoptable in the practice.
