Simulation Study of Intermittent Drying of Rough Rice

Abstract
Intermittent drying is one way to improve energy utilization and to improve drying quality of some products. On the basis of moisture transfer process analyzing within a grain kernel, a simulation program for intermittent thin-layer grain drying was accomplished. The simulating results were tested through experiments, and it was found that the differences between the simulated moisture content of grain and the experimental values were insignificant . The effects of intermittent drying parameters on drying rate, moisture gradient and stresses level within a grain kernel were analyzed. Thus the simulating results could be used to devise an optimal intermittent drying process schedule.
