Abstract
Electrostatic dusting enhances charged particles depostion efficiency on earthed target because of the electrostatic field. A watermesh apparatus which is enable to measure the ratio of charge to the mass was developed. An experimental system, consisting of Laser Doppler Velocimetry(LDV) ,wind tunnel, high voltage generator and earthed targets, was founded to investigate the particle deposition velocity near the simulated targets. The results show that the velocity is changed due to the electrostatic force on the particle, and the force makes the particles toward to the targets. The zone of the electrostatic attraction is found to extend over a perpendicular distance of 0.04 m or so from the targets surfaces tested. The deposition test also shows the deposition of charged particles on the simulated target is more than that of the uncharged particles.
