    • The measurement of soil dielectric constant is critical to determine soil water content. In order to get a both practical and economical measuring instrument, a new device based on the principle of standingwave ratio was designed and a series of theoretical treatments were developed. Especially, a theoretical problem about determining the character impedance of fourwire probe was satisfactorily solved. The calculated soil dielectric constant is coincided with the results from test.
