Study on Controlled Traffic With Conservative Tillage

    • Soil bulk density, infiltration rate and tillage resistance were analyzed through compaction experiments with different treatments of non compaction, compaction with small tractor, compaction with middle tractor and compaction with combine. Results of two years controlled traffic experiments showed that, random traffic can bring severe compaction to soil, reduce infiltration, increase energy consumption, but controlled traffic can improve soil structure, increase soil moisture, reduce runoff and make field operation more timely and precise. Controlled traffic may occupy 20% land, but the yields can be kept at the same level.
