Warm Weather Environment of Cowshed and Its Influence on Milk Yields of Dairy Cows

    • The air temperature, humidity, wind velocity, radiant heat intensity and other indexes of inside and outside the cowshed were measured systematically and the environmental influence (EI) coefficients of milk yields of cows were calculated. The results showed that for the cowshed in summer season the radiant temperature, blackbody temperature and ten day mean THI were higher and it has a great influence on milk production with negative EI coefficients. For the cowshed in winter season the temperature is lower and the wind velocity is higher, but it has a relatively smaller influence on milk yields with positive EI coefficients. It seems that cowshed can be used in central plain of China. It is favorable for preventing hot weather by selecting higher heat resistance materials for the roof and increasing the height of the cowshed.
