Empirical Model for Soil Moisture Forecast in Winter Wheat Field

Based on an assumption that the depletion of soil water is proportional to soil water storage, the exponential depletion relation of soil water is obtained. As a result, an empirical model is proposed to forecast soil moisture regime in the growing season of winter wheat. The model is simple with few parameters, but spatial and temporal variability of soil water depletion coefficient limits the use of the model.
