Research on Pulse Combustion Drying and Its Characteristics of Heat Transfer

Abstract
A pulse combustion drying test rig was designed. Experimental study for drying rapeseed inside the tail pipe of pulse combustor was carried out. The parameters of pulse combustor such as frequency, heat load, and length of drying pipe affecting on drying property were analyzed. The heat transfer characteristics of drying rapeseed inside the tail pipe of pulse combustor were studied and compared with some other conventional dryers. The results showed that the Nusselt number and Reynolds number of pulse combustion drying depend on exponential change, and the Nusselt number of pulse combustion drying is 2 to 5 times greater than that of other dryers.
