Satellite Remote Sensing Monitoring Techniques on Winter Wheat Planting Area Dynamic Changes and Distribution at Kenli County

Using TM data and image process software ENVI3.2, the winter wheat area and distribution information were obtained by methods of Spectral Angle Mapper and man machine interactive interpretation etc. The dynamic changes of winter wheat area and its distribution between 1987 and 1998 at Kenli County were studied by the methods of images compound and classification, image ratioing, interactive visual interpretation and classification results overlay. The results showed that the winter wheat planting area of Kenli County increased by 11 264.5 hm² in 11 years, which increased obviously from 1992 to 1996. The increased winter wheat area mainly distributed on the center and the places near Yellow River Outlet at Kenli County, the decreased area was mainly located on southwestern and northeastern parts, which were formerly the winter wheat main distribution areas. The results give scientific support for the management and decision making on winter wheat production of Kenli County.
