Abstract
An orthogonal experiment was carried out by L4(23) orthogonal array to study the function of cavity making by explosion in water storage and soil moisture holding in loess field. Results indicate that cavity making by explosion is an effective measure to enhance the capacity of soil precipitation in arid field and to improve the soil moisture in drought season; Cavity making by explosion can increase the water storage by about 10%~37% in arid area at the depth below 100 cm, the longer the period without precipitation is, the greater the incremental amplitude is.
