Method and Case Study of Appraising Sustainable Development on Rural Energy in China

In recent years, China has experienced rapid economic growth and equally rapid increases energy consumption, especially commercial energy, in rural areas. As a result, energy over consumption induced environmental degradation in rural China. Based on definition of sustainable development on rural energy (SDRE), this paper presented the index system of appraising SDRE and the weight of each index was calculated. It puts forward the quantification method and provides the basis for the research of the rural energy for sustainable development in different areas and periods.
