Method of Making Field Grids by MapBasic in Precision Agriculture

    • To collect status messages of field and execute variable input in precision agriculture, the field should be plotted out and its grids are named accordingly. MapBasic 6.0 is the further development language of MapInfo Professional 6.0, which is a type of Geographical Information System (GIS) software. MapBasic and MapInfo can make field grids, but they are difficult to make grids according to the real shape of the field. So taking the playground of Nanling Campus of Jilin University for example, this paper explored one method of making and naming field grids. The original satellite data of the playground, collected by the Global Position System (GPS), were dealt with by the MapBasic programs. The result shows that this method can combine the GPS and GIS harmoniously, and can make field grids and name the grids conveniently.
