Squeeze Flow of A Second-Order Fluid Between Two Parallel Disks With Wall Slip

    • Squeeze flow between two disks with a fluid is a classical model related to many applications. Unlike other fluids, shearing deformation in a second order fluid will produce normal stress differences, so this property together with wall slip mechanism will significantly affect the squeezing behaviors. Based on the lubrication theory, squeeze flow of a second order fluid between two parallel disks with wall slip was studied using the small parameter method, and analytical solutions for the pressure and the viscous force were obtained. Numerical plots show that wall slip has a significant effect on the pressure distribution and the resulting squeeze force, and both pressure and the force decrease linearly with the increment of the slip parameter.
