Fuzzy Linear Programming Model for Optimal Design of Main Pipeline Network in Pump Pressurized Sprinkler Irrigation System

    • Based on the change of flow rate within the main pipeline network of a sprinkler irrigation system with pump pressurized, a fuzzy linear programming (FLP) model was used for pipeline network optimization to deal with the fuzziness associated with the pressure constraints at control points. In the solving process, the fuzzy linear programming problem was transformed into a normal linear programming (LP) problem through certain procedures. With the model, the design of sprinkler pipeline network can be optimized, the optimal lift head and pipe size were determined, and the annual operational cost was minimized. Compared with the normal LP model, the method proposed in this paper can make the design more economical.
