Experimental Studies on the Optimal Drying Techniques of High Moisture Content Rough Rice

    • The optimum drying technique of high moisture content rough rice in South China was studied. Moisture transferring process of single rough rice was dynamically traced in circumstances of constant air temperature, relative humidity and air velocity. It was shown that two-period decelerated drying characteristics existed during the drying of a single kernel. The temperature of airflow in the deep bed was obtained by use of thermocouples. The curves of deep bed drying characteristics were obtained on the basis of heat and mass balance. The heat and moisture transferring mechanism was discussed. The effects of drying conditions on rough rice fissuring were investigated. The optimum drying techniques of high moisture content rough rice were presented according to the experimental results.
