Contamination and assessment of heavy metals in fly ash reclaimed soil

    • Samples were taken from fly ash reclaimed soil to investigate the contamination of ten heavy metals, namely, Arsenic(As), Cadmium(Cd), Chromium(Cr), Hydrargyrum(Hg), Plumbum(Pb), Copper(Cu), Selenium(Se), Zincum(Zn), Nickel(Ni) and Fluorin(F). It was found that the soil reclaimed by fly ash was, as a whole, polluted according to common soil assessment standards. It was also discovered that, the surface reclaimed soil was severely polluted by Cd, Se, Zn and F elements, the reclaimed soil is suitable for dryland plant cultivations rather than wetland plant cultivations, and the contamination of heavy metals on surface soil was increased with cultivation time.
