Abstract
This paper examines the reliability optimization design for front-axle with non-normal distribution parameters. Using techniques from the probabilistic perturbation method and the Edgeworth series technique, a practical and effective method for the reliability optimization design for front-axle with non-normal distribution parameters of vehicle on the condition of known first four moments of basic random variables is presented. The respective program can be used to obtain the reliability optimization design information of front-axle with non-normal distribution parameters accurately and quickly. The numerical results demonstrate that the method proposed is an effective and practical approach to computing reliability and designing front-axle with non-normal distribution parameters.
