    • Geographic Information System(GIS), a powerful tool for spatial data processing, has been widely used in many fields. In the paper, the application of GIS-based grid method in earthwork calculation and allocation for farmland consolidation was introduced. Take Langxi county of Anhui province as a case study, the acceptable and satisfied results were obtained using ArcGIS desktop software. Finally, the problem and prospect of the application of GIS in earthwork calculation and allocation were discussed.
