New approaches to wheat cultivars extension assisted by crop simulation model

    • Based on the field trial and ancestor's research and with winter wheat as study material and CERES-WHEAT model as study tool, the potential application of crop simulation model in new wheat cultivars extension was studied in this research. The purpose of this research was to apply the dynamics and prediction function of crop simulation model and predict the phonological period, the days from sowing to harvesting, yield and yield component of different wheat varieties at different sites by applying the existed variety parameter, soil data and weather data. Meanwhile the predicted values were compared with the measured value. In the end, an integrated evaluation about variety ecological adaptation was conducted. The yield performance and ecological adaptation of a wheat variety can assist the decision during the variety region trial and extension. This attempt may be a new approach to solve some problems existing in new variety extension.
