Review of recent development of biosensors used in detection of pesticide residues

    • The extensive use of pesticides necessitates reliable tools for the detection of residues in order to ensure environmental protection and consumer safety. But conventional methods of analysis are limited as they are either time consuming or high costly. Biosensors are analytical devices composed of a biological recognition element coupled to a chemical or physical transducer. Biosensors can be used as good tools for the detection of contaminants such as pesticides. Recent development of biosensors for the detection of pesticide residues in food, agricultural and environmental samples are reviewed. There will be an excellent prospect for biosensors in both scientific research and the market.
