Spatial pattern change of land use in Tunliu county, Shanxi Province based on GIS and fractal theory

    • Spatial pattern change of land use is an important part of land consolidation and sustainable use of land resources. Fractal theory with the advantage of spatial structure analysis offers a new tool for land use spatial pattern research. In this paper, supported by GIS to construct land use database and based on fractal theory, the fractal dimensions and persistence indexes of all land types in Tunliu county, Shanxi Province were calculated. For comprehensively understanding the spatial pattern change, some other indexes of landscape ecology were applied, and their values of each land type were also calculated. All the results can be used as references in land consolidation, which is helpful to promote reasonable land use and sustainable development of regional landscape pattern.
