    Effects of maize stem substrate fermented by different nitrogen resources and ratios on tomato seedling growth

    • The effects of maize stem substrates produced by fermentation with different nitrogen resources and ratios on tomato seedling growth were studied. The substrate for tomato seedling nursing was a mixed substrate by adding the maize stem substrate to vermiculite with the ratio of 6∶4(v/v) and the contrast substrate was peat: vermiculite=2∶1(v/v). The results showed that the average stem of the tomato seedling was similar to that of the contrast, the average diameter of the stem, the average root volumes and the average biggest root lengths are all better than that of the contrast at 35 d and 40 d after sowing and the aboveground and underground dry matter accumulations of per plant were all higher than that of the contrast when using the maize stem substrate fermented by 25% drying chicken manure nitrogen +75% chemical fertilizer nitrogen to produce tomato seedling in spring. The maize stem substrate fermented by this nitrogen resource and ratio could be a substitute of peat applied to tomato seedling production.
