    Fuzzy SOFM-GIS space evaluation model and its application in farmland classification

    • Based on the shortage of the classification methods in the farmland, fuzzy theory, self-organizing feature map network, and GIS were integrated to develop a Fuzzy SOFM-GIS Space classification Model. The feasibility of applying the Fuzzy SOFM-GIS Space classification Model to classify the farmland in the Gaoyao city in Guangdong Province was investigated and verified. The results show that by using Fuzzy SOFM-GIS Space classification Model classifying the farmland is stable and reliable, the nature quality rating in farmland is ⅩⅩⅦ to ⅩⅩⅩ, area is 32089.2 hm2, accounting for a percentage of 86.4% of the sum farmland area of the Gaoyao.
