Farmland landscape change in the Upper Reaches of Minjiang River

Based on RS and GIS, the change of farmland landscape with methods transition matrix and Kappa coefficient in the upper reaches of Minjiang River was studied. The results showed that area of farmland landscape kept increasing from 1974 to 2000, and conversion with other landscape types frequently. The farmland landscape mainly converted from the forest landscape. Area of farmland landscape increased dramatically from 1974 to 1986. According to the results of Kappa coefficient, though the area change of farmland was not obvious from 1986 to 2000, but the spatial change was dramatic.
