WebGIS-based information system for evaluation of soil environment in prime farmland

Abstract
Based on the support of the regional soil spatial-temporal database and the map server of GeoWeb, the WebGIS-based information system for evaluation of soil environment in prime farmland(PFSEGIS) was developed with ASP, JavaScript and HTML. The construction of PFSEGIS is divided into two parts: soil environmental database and model system. The database consists of sample monitoring data, relief map data and metadata. The model system covers single index evaluation model, comprehensive evaluation model, and spatial interpolation model, etc. The PFSEGIS includes five functional subsystems named as sample data acquisition, sample data evaluation, regional simulation, data statistical analysis and metadata browsing, respectively. Combining sample monitoring data with map data, spatial analysis and relevant modeling process were conducted. PFSEGIS can be used for the on-line sharing, evaluation and consultant service of soil environmental information.
