Experimental study on the combustion characteristics of biomass pellets

This paper analyzed theoretically the combustion characteristics of corn straw, wood powder and mixed wood powder pellets in thermogravimetricanalyzer. The thermochemical dynamic parameters(E and K₀) of these three biomassfuel pellets responding to the different combustion periods were compared, and the effects of different pellet forming processes on combustion characteristics were analyzed. Combined with the combustion features in the furnace, the dominantfactor that influences the combustion efficiency is the volatile rate. Some guiding suggestions were put forward for improving pellets quality and spreading its application flexibility for different types of furnaces.
