Abstract
Thermodynamic properties of adsorption of hydroxymethyl furfural(HMF) in honey by macroporous adsorption resins(LSA-800B) were investigated using static adsorption method. Equilibrium data for the adsorption of HMF in honey at 298, 308, 318 K, respectively and investigative concentration range were obtained and were correlated with a Freundlich-type of isotherm equation. Freundlich adsorption isotherms and isosteric enthalpy of adsorption indicate that the process of adsorption of HMF by LSA-800B resin is an exothermic process. The negative value of ΔG indicates the spontaneous nature of the adsorption process. The negative values of the adsorption entropy indicate the more restricted mobility of the HMF on resin surface than that in solution.
