Cultivated land suitability evaluation and its application to other increased land allocation

    • Aimed at the problem of build-up land sprawling out into agricultural land in urban fringe, a cultivated land suitability evaluation system was designed, which was composed of land capability evaluation system and land development pressure assessment system. Taking Wangxinzhuang town of Pinggu District in Beijing as an example, land capability and land development pressure was evaluated and nine types of synthetically suitability subarea were obtained. The ways of application of spatial and temporal allocation of new build-up land were explored. Results show that about 60% land in study area has high cultivated land suitability and 50% land bears high development pressure. There are different spatial and temporal allocations of new build-up land under different planning objectives. This method provides powerful information support for the new build-up land allocation in urban fringe.
