    Morphogenesis model-based virtual growth system for organs and plant of wheat

    • By applying the system analysis principle and mathematical modeling technique to the morphogenesis, the morphogenesis model for wheat was developed through the quantitative analyses of the experimental data and integrating the existing theory and knowledge. The whole morphogenesis model includes four submodels of leaf, stem, sheath and ear morphogenesis. The submodel of leaf morphogenesis can quantitatively describe the dynamics of leaf length, leaf shape, leaf area, leaf curve, leaf angle, leaf color and leaf senescence, and the stem morphogenesis submodel can simulate the dynamics of stem length and thickness. By integrating the existing wheat growth model WheatGrow, a morphogenesis model based wheat virtual growth system for organs and plant was developed with OpenGL on the platform of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. The system comprised of models, database and interface (or browser), in which the models included the morphogenesis model, growth model, visualization model and scene control model, and the database included the weather data, soil data and variety parameters. The operational results of the system show that the system can primarily realize the visual description of growth process of organs and single plant in wheat.
