Experimental investigation on energy saving of controlled traffic conservation tillage

    • Two treatments were conducted in the suburb of south Beijing, to compare the effects of controlled traffic conservation tillage(2CT) and conservation tillage(CT) in terms of the draft force and fuel consumption in planting or subsoiling. The experimental results show that there is a notable difference in draft force and fuel consumption between controlled traffic and uncontrolled traffic conservation tillage. The fuel consumption of the field operation is highly correlated with draft force of the operation, especially in the soil engaging conditions like seeding or subsoiling. While in the two kinds of operations as mentioned above, controlled traffic conservation tillage could save force by 14% and save fuel by 27.9%, compared with uncontrolled traffic conservation tillage.
