Research advances in crop yield estimation models based on remote sensing

    • The estimation of crop yield per unit area is not only the key technology, but also one of the difficulties for crop production estimation. Remote sensing is playing an increasingly important role in crop yield estimation with its macroscopical, real-time and dynamical dominance. As a result, it will become necessary to use the remote sensing information to construct crop yield models for crop yield estimation on large area scale. On the basis of summarizing the researches of crop yield estimating models at home and abroad, the paper divided crop yield models into four patterns, and expatiated on them respectively. Then, the paper analyzed the diversiform selective tendency of remote sensing data sources, which should extremely meet the need of constructing crop yield models. How to effectively valid the estimating precision of crop yield models was also discussed. Finally, the paper made the forecast for the development tendency of crop yield models.
