  • Sodium polyacrylate is paid more attention to because of its effect on water keeping. However, researches were always took in lab scale. Application for promotion of sodium polyacrylate in agriculture as aim, based on the experiments in field, the effect of sodium polyacrylate on the growth, yield and water use efficiency (WUE) of winter wheat were studied. The result show that the used of sodium polyacrylate can improve wheat growth, increase chlorophyll contents, raise wheat yield and WUE. The yield and WUE was advanced at 2.9% and 3.52 kg/(hm2·mm) when a solution of 1/2000(g/g) of sodium polyacrylate in water was used at 5.5 m3/hm2 in ploughed furrow. As the fertilizer was mixed with it, the yield and WUE were increased even more obviously reached 10.14% and 4.38 kg/(hm2·mm) respectively.
