Theoretical study and CFD prediction of infiltration rate through a cold store entrance under thermal pressure

Abstract
The infiltration through the entrance of a cold store in practice was investigated. Several empirical formulate were applied and theoretical method was used to analyze the infiltration through the entrance of the cold store under consideration. Meanwhile, a three-dimensional CFD model was established for the cold store. The temperature and velocity fields of the air flow in the cold store and at the entrance, as well as the infiltration through the entrance were numerically analyzed with an air cooler running at a certain speed. The comparison of the calculated infiltration results shows that the difference between the results obtained with Gosney, Fritzsche and Tamm modified and that obtained with the CFD technique is about 5%.
