    Multi-objective evaluation on suitability of soil resources based on GIS

    • Suitability evaluation of soil resource is the base of spatial analysis and optimization disposition. It provides scientific basis for reasonable development and utilization of soil resource. Taking soil resource in Poyang Lake economical region of Jiangxi province as study object, seven factors are adopted, statistical model and evaluation method are carried out to appraise suitability evaluation for cultivated land, garden, forestry based on GIS. The result shows that the survival condition and soil suitability of study region are good. Cultivated land which is 19269.2 km2 amounts for 48.5%, garden which is 4399.1 km2 amounts for 11.08 %, forestry which is 12579.12 km2 and amounts for 31.7%. The method overcomes shortcoming of tradition evaluation method which is time-consuming, vigor-consuming and strong of subjective participation. The result is objective reasonably. A new method for suitability evaluation of soil resource is provided
