Analysis of mechanical properties of Chinese chestnut cracking based on the FEM

Abstract
Breaking Chinese chestnut shell is the preliminary stage of processing chestnus. On the basis of Chinese chestnut’s geometrical dimension and physical parameters, the finite element model was established by ANSYS. The stress distribution and strain of the chestnust shell were analyzed under three different conditions of force or pressure. The conclusion indicates that breaking effect of loading in the direction of Y and Z in YZ plane are better than that by the type of loading in the direction of Z in XZ plane, and both the two loading methods can reach the effect of cracking the shell, just only the maximal stress and strain are on the different places of shell for above loading types. And the experiment results proved that the model is valuable and feasible.
